Frequently asked questions

Where does the bus.broker list come from?

Every listing comes from the FMCSA company census — the official U.S. register of motor carriers. We include active carriers that haul passengers and report motorcoaches, buses, school buses, limousines or 9–15 seat vans. Public school districts, churches and government fleets that only carry their own people are left out.

How do I check if a bus company is safe?

Look up its USDOT number on FMCSA SAFER. For trips across state lines the company needs active passenger authority (an MC number) and at least $5 million insurance for 16+ seat buses. Avoid carriers with an Unsatisfactory safety rating or an out-of-service order. Our profiles show the authority and rating on record.

Is bus.broker free to use?

Yes. Searching the directory, checking carriers and using the calculators is free, with no sign-up. The site is supported by advertising, which never changes which companies are listed or their order.

Does bus.broker book buses?

No. We are an independent directory, not a booking agent. Contact the companies directly and ask for a written quote and proof of insurance.
